Building on the success of Sentinel Totus² Demand Energy Recovery Ventilation (D-ERV) Vent-Axia has launched a range of simplified heat recovery ventilation units. Part of the Roof Units range, the new Energy Recovery Ventilation (ERV) series of heat recovery units covers airflow from 500 to 1500m³/hr. Offering basic controls and functionality the ERV units are designed for projects that require cost-effective heat recovery ventilation without the complexities of Demand Ventilation Control.

The ERV range consists of two unit sizes (ERV1000 and ERV1500) each available with two versions of control and unit functionality (Basic and Standard) and two versions of Energy Recovery Cell: the 90% efficient Hi Box or a lower cost 55% efficient cell. These Energy Recovery Cell options allow customers to make a specification decision by weighing up the capital cost compared to the long-term running cost savings that heat recovery ventilation can provide.

Meanwhile, two levels of control and unit functionality further extend the cost control by allowing the client to opt for a ‘Basic’ unit that provides manual speed control or a ‘Standard’ unit that includes manual speed control and heat recovery control functions, such as frost protection and summer bypass control.

Frost protection in the ‘Standard’ unit is provided by a two stage 2kW electric heater, designed to ensure the heat recovery cell does not freeze up under very low ambient conditions. Meanwhile, the Summer Bypass facility, available on the ‘Standard’ unit, features a damper that operates on both the heat recovery route and bypass route. This feature enables a full 100% bypass thus maximising the energy recovery benefits of free cooling when available while achieving good comfort levels. The ERV ‘Standard’ unit also includes a G4 replaceable synthetic filter, this is available as an optional extra on the ‘Basic’ version.

By featuring robust high quality heat exchangers the Vent-Axia ERV range can be installed in most environments including those with high humidity yet without the need to regularly maintain or replace the heat exchanger cell. The aluminium cells are designed to be maintenance free and to last the life of the unit.

All units are powered by advanced high efficiency EC/DC motor technology, which is proven to use over 30% less energy than conventional AC motors. The EC/DC motors therefore ensure power consumption is minimised to achieve the Specific Fan Power (SFP) required by Building Regulations while maximising operational life.
Manufactured with a frameless construction the ERV units incorporate single skin Aluzinc panels with a highly thermal and acoustically efficient internal insulating foam. Suitable for internal or external mounting the ERV units have a compact low profile of 360mm making them ideal for false ceiling applications while access panels on the top and bottom are designed for ease of access and maintenance.
