Vent-Axia is celebrating reaching the final shortlist in the prestigious Electrical Industry Awards 2016, which recognises, celebrates and rewards companies leading the way in the UK electrical sector. The leading British ventilation manufacturer is delighted its award-winning Sentinel Kinetic Advance is a finalist in the Innovative Residential /Domestic Product of The Year category.
The next generation of whole house Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR), the Advance is the best performing MVHR unit in its class and offers near silent, energy efficient and high pressure operation. Designed for air-tight thermally efficient new build residential and light commercial properties, the unit provides energy efficient ventilation and pioneering control as the first web-enabled UK-manufactured MVHR unit. Featuring groundbreaking commissioning and control via a unique web-enabled App, Advance encourages best practice and high performance through simplified commissioning, saving installers time on site.
“We are delighted our Sentinel Kinetic Advance has been recognised in these prestigious awards. At Vent-Axia we are celebrating 80 years of innovation this year with the Advance leading the way through its pioneering performance and connectivity. We are therefore very proud to be recognised in the Electrical Industry Awards which honour innovation and excellence in the electrical sector,” said Jenny Smith, Marketing Manager, Vent-Axia.
The Advance achieves the holy grail of high efficiency and low sound levels with trickle settings of up to 40% that still stay below 20dBA. It boasts a specific fan power (SFP) as low as 0.38W/l/s, combined with 93% heat recovery and an airflow of 100l/s at 150Pa. Maximised airflows and minimised noise and energy are achieved through cutting-edge EC motor and highly sculpted interiors.
Offering a range of features that improve indoor air quality (IAQ) the Advance features a unique and innovative free App which households can download onto their smartphones to allow them to control their IAQ. Via the App households can boost the unit and view efficiencies and temperatures. Filters up to F7 grade ensure that even homes in heavily urbanised areas can filter out most impurities, including damaging PM2.5 particles. A filter check warning tells households via the App or email when filters need changing, thus helping to maintain the quality of incoming air.
Meanwhile, app-controlled functionality means the Advance offers simplified installation and commissioning, saving time on site and so money, reducing build length and improving performance and build quality. When installers use a vane anemometer to measure airflow, using just one hand they can use the App to control airflows during measurement, making it unnecessary to repeatedly return to the unit to adjust fan speeds. USB functionality allows pre-commissioning, thus saving time on developments with same specification builds.
Developed for modern thermally efficient homes, Advance also features a revolutionary programmable summer bypass to ensure year-round thermal comfort. The summer bypass is pioneering since it is fully automatic and truly intelligent, a first. The summer bypass is set for both comfort temperature and minimum external temperature. These settings enable the controls to determine whether it is winter or summer allowing it to run without homeowner intervention.
For further cooling the Advance summer bypass has an evening purge feature that boosts early evening and then runs on a timer until about 10pm so there is no nuisance noise at night. Additional cooling is also available for periods of several days of high temperatures and warm nights. Here the Advance utilises a Night-Time Purge. This allows a home to be pre-cooled for the following day by taking advantage of cooler night-time temperatures.
Part of Vent-Axia’s Kinetic range of MVHR units, the Advance is a whole house heat recovery system combining supply and extract ventilation in one unit. Warm, moist air is extracted from ‘wet’ rooms through ducting, passing through the heat exchanger before being exhausted outside. Fresh incoming air is preheated via the integral heat exchanger which recovers 93% of the heat that would otherwise be wasted.
Attended by the biggest names in the electrical industry, the Electrical Industry Awards ceremony will take place at The Royal Garden, Kensington on Thursday, 27th October 2016. For further details and information on how to book tickets please visit www.electricaltimes.co.uk/awards
