Vent-Axia, leaders in heat recovery technology, is showcasing its popular range of Sentinel Kinetic mechanical ventilation with heat recovery (MVHR) this year at Mostra Convegno Expocomfort, Milan, Italy (27-30th March 2012). Visitors to Vent-Axia’s Stand V52 V56, Hall 22, will see the comprehensive Sentinel Kinetic range including the launch of the company’s new horizontal units. Part of Vent-Axia’s Lo Carbon™ initiative, the Sentinel Kinetic Horizontal series includes units 200mm and 300mm in depth making them ideal for installation in shallow ceiling voids.
Manufactured in the UK, the flexible Sentinel Kinetic range offers a whole house heat recovery system combining supply and extract ventilation in one unit. Warm, moist air is extracted from ‘wet’ rooms through ducting and passed through the heat exchanger before being exhausted outside. Fresh incoming air is preheated via the integral heat exchanger which recovers up to 92% of heat energy that would otherwise be wasted. The unit’s energy saving Vent-Axia DC motors further improve efficiency and carbon reductions.
In addition, heat recovery ventilation reduces excessive moisture in the air, combating condensation and subsequent mould growth, while saving money on maintenance. Households are further aided through better indoor air quality which reduces microscopic fungal growth and eliminates the conditions in which house dust mites thrive, both linked to allergic reactions and asthma.
The new Sentinel Kinetic Horizontal units have three fully adjustable speeds and a purge setting. Supplied with a digital controller to pre-set the speeds to any required air-flow within the operation range the units offer exceptional performance and boast a specific fan power (SPF) as low as O.42W/l/s. This performance is further enhanced by the latest high efficiency backward curved impeller design ensuring lowest possible energy consumption and ultra-quiet operation as low as 20dB(A) at 3m.
Featuring multiple plug and play control options and BMS connectivity the Sentinel Kinetic Horizontal has five Volt-free sensor inputs allowing boosting from a full range of Vent-Axia controllers including humidistats, PIR, CO2, Vent-Wise and timers. Integral system controls include a humidity sensor that increases fan speed in proportion to humidity levels, saving energy and reducing noise. Switched live for boosting via light switches or manual Normal/boost switches the connection benefits from a ‘delay on’ feature preventing unnecessary boosting.
To ensure year round thermal comfort the Sentinel Kinetic Horizontal includes a programmable Summer Bypass which operates when a home’s temperature rises above a pre-set Comfort Temperature. Meanwhile, in winter the unit utilises anti-frost protection to stop frost building up on the intake side of the heat exchanger and so preventing damage.
