Leading British ventilation manufacturer Vent-Axia is offering its ‘Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) and Ventilation’ Continuing Professional Development (CPD) module via a webinar with Voltimum on 20th May. The online module explains the importance of good indoor air quality (IAQ), especially when introducing energy efficiency measures in existing homes, and is fully updated to include the latest IAQ research findings.

Accredited by the Construction CPD Certification Service, the CPD is part of Vent-Axia’s training portfolio and allows construction professionals the flexibility to complete a valuable module, fitting in with busy work schedules and eliminating the expense and time required to attend seminars in person.

“As new homes become more air tight and existing properties undergo energy efficiency measures to improve their insulation and air tightness, indoor air quality is an increasingly important consideration,” says Jenny Smith, Marketing Services Manager at Vent-Axia. “This updated CPD offers electricians the latest IAQ information and includes solutions to findings from a recent independent study by Prism & Waverton Analytics which shows a large number of homes are experiencing, or are at risk of aggravated health problems due to poor indoor air quality.”.

Vent-Axia is working with Voltimum, a leading portal for the electrical industry, to provide electricians with this high quality CPD. To access the module interested applicants should visit the Voltimum webportal at http://www.voltimum.co.uk and register with Voltimum. They will then receive a VoltiSPECIAL e-newsletter, two weeks before the seminar, inviting them to sign up for the webinar. Applicants who successfully complete the module will receive a CPD certificate.

Participants in the webinar will see details of the latest IAQ research, which reveals a staggering 91% of homes tested for Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) in the air were above the recommended level. As the total VOC level increases into the moderate, elevated or severe levels, aggravated health problems become a more likely issue. Evidence also shows that if care is not taken to ensure adequate levels of ventilation, in line with Part F of the Building Regulations, then as well as increased VOC levels, high levels of humidity can lead to a growth in dust mite populations, condensation and mould resulting in health and comfort issues.

Vent-Axia has been delivering specialist technical and educational information for construction personnel at all levels and across all sectors for more than 15 years via the Construction CPD Certification Service. The company currently offers seven PowerPoint based CPD seminars covering both the residential and commercial sectors.
