Vent-Axia has added the 200ZP to its popular Sentinel Kinetic horizontal range of mechanical ventilation with heat recovery (MVHR) solutions. Part of the company’s innovative Lo-Carbon™ initiative, the new compact addition to the series has been designed specifically for small apartments and boasts an impressive 86% thermal efficiency. Developed for modern thermally efficient homes the range features revolutionary summer bypass to ensure year-round thermal comfort.
Featuring on SAP Appendix Q the series offers exceptional performance and boasts a specific fan power (SPF) as low as 0.62W/l/s. The 200ZP’s performance is further enhanced by the latest high efficiency backward curved impeller design ensuring lowest possible energy consumption and ultra-quiet operation.
To ensure year-round thermal comfort in increasingly air tight properties, Vent-Axia’s 200ZP includes in its range an innovative programmable summer bypass which operates when a home’s temperature rises above a pre-set comfort temperature. Meanwhile, in winter the unit utilises frost protection to stop frost building up on the intake side of the heat exchanger and so preventing damage.
The summer bypass is pioneering since it is fully automatic and truly intelligent, a first. The summer bypass is set for both comfort temperature and minimum external temperature. These settings enable the controls to determine whether it is winter or summer allowing it to run without homeowner intervention.
For further cooling the 200ZP summer bypass has an evening purge feature that boosts early evening and then runs on a timer until about 10pm so there is no nuisance noise at night. Additional cooling is also available for periods of several days of high temperatures and warm nights. Here the 200ZP utilises a Night-Time Purge. This allows a home to be pre-cooled for the following day by taking advantage of cooler night-time temperatures.
Manufactured in the UK, the 200ZP features horizontal rectangular spigots, which allow installation directly into 204 x 60 ducting, rather than using a connector. It is easy to install and maintain with a control box that slides down on both sides and the easily accessible heat recovery cube is protected by two removable G3 filters. It is also very light, weighing in at only 14kg, making it easy to lift by one person.
Combining supply and extract ventilation in one unit the 200ZP extracts warm, moist air from ‘wet’ rooms through ducting and passes it through the heat exchanger before being exhausted outside. Fresh incoming air is preheated via the integral heat exchanger, which recovers up to 86% of the heat energy that would otherwise be wasted. The unit’s two energy saving Vent-Axia Lo-Carbon EC DC motors further improve efficiency and carbon reductions and ensures long life – typically over double the life of AC motors.
In addition, heat recovery ventilation reduces excessive moisture in the air, combating condensation and subsequent mould growth, saving money on maintenance and decoration. Home owners or tenants are further aided through better indoor air quality which has the duel health benefits of reducing microscopic fungal growth and eliminating the conditions in which house dust mites thrive, both of which are linked to allergic reactions and asthma.
Meeting the latest requirements of Building Regulations Approved Document F for whole house system ventilation: System 4, the 200ZP has three fully adjustable speeds and a purge setting. The range is supplied with a digital controller that can be used to pre-set the speeds to any required air-flow within the performance range.
Featuring multiple plug and play control options and BMS connectivity, the 200ZP has five Volt-free sensor inputs allowing boosting from a full range of Vent-Axia controllers including humidistats, PIR, CO2, Vent-Wise and timers, as well as wireless remote. The 200ZP also features two terminals with 0-24V outputs allowing 0V to 10V proportional control by sophisticated controllers such as CO2 sensors and proportional humidistats. Switched live for boosting via light switches (LS) or manual normal/boost switches the connection benefits from a ‘delay on’ feature which prevents the unit boosting unnecessarily.
