Vent-Axia are setting the Pace for a Healthy Workplace in 2010!
The Global Corporate Challenge® (GCC) is the world’s largest corporate health and wellbeing initiative that combines exercise, fun and ‘virtual’ interactive experiences in some of the most amazing places on earth.
The event was created to address the emerging health crisis resulting from the triple threat of longer workdays, sedentary occupations and little or no exercise. The GCC is a fun program that increases staff fitness, promotes teamwork and workplace morale, fosters positive competitive spirit, and supports the workforce to be active, healthy, and more productive. Vent-Axia are joining over 1,200 of other leading organisations from over 75 countries worldwide to take up the challenge while investing in the wellbeing of their valued employees.
What is the GCC?
• Organisations enter teams of seven.
• Team members don’t need to be geographically close.
The desk next to them or an office on the other side of the world can work just as well.
• Each team member receives a starter pack that includes a GCC pedometer. They wear this and record their daily step count for each of the event’s 16 weeks.
• Every day, each team member logs on to the award winning GCC website and enters their step count.
• The site adds their individual step count to their team total. The site then converts this total to a kilometre/mile distance, and plots the team’s progression along the virtual tour of the world (the more active they are, the further they go).
• During their travels, participants ‘interact virtually’ with each location, its customs, facts, foods, politics and famous locals.
• Most importantly, participants are exercising more, reaping the health benefits, and developing a healthy habit that will stay with them for the rest of their lives.
The 111 day, GCC 2010 journey starts on May 20 and concludes on September 7. Vent-Axia have 7 teams participating, a total of 49 members of staff.
In 2010, the Global Corporate Challenge® will not only continue to make an unprecedented impact upon the health and wellbeing of our workplace and the corporate world, but the GCC will also improve the lives of thousands of school children through a new and very exciting pilot program that will be run.
