When a property in Dumfries was in desperate need of new ventilation Vent-Axia was only too happy to step in. The company supplied its innovative single room heat recovery solution, the Lo-Carbon™ Tempra, to a rundown cottage in Dumfries shown on the BBC One series 'DIY SOS: The Big Build' as part of a life changing transformation to the family’s home.
Set in the beautiful Scottish countryside the cottage seemed the perfect place for the family to settle. But on Christmas Day 2003 the father died of a sudden heart attack leaving the mother suffering from depression, while looking after two young children in a house that was falling apart. Living in a cold house affected the whole family, meanwhile, the faulty electrics meant they also had to endure electric shocks every time they went into the damp bathroom.
This project therefore sought to create a home which was a bright, warm, safe dry and healthy place to live as well as being energy efficient.
“Vent-Axia was only too happy to help the family in Dumfries. We were delighted to be able to assist with the DIY SOS project and contribute to creating a warm, safe, dry, family home,” says Lee Nurse, Marketing Director at Vent-Axia.
