Confirmation that the renewable heat incentive will be delivered 2011-12 was contained in the comprehensive spending review announced by the Government on the 20th October 2010.

In the CSR it is confirmed that:

“£860 million of new support over the Spending Review period to support households and businesses investing in renewable heat measures”

“The Renewable Heat Incentive, funded from AME (Taxation), will be introduced from 2011-12. This will ensure the UK meets its 2020 renewable energy targets while making efficiency savings of 20 per cent, or £105 million a year, by 2014-15 compared with the previous government’s plans”

Since the spending review other information has been uncovered which indicates that following:

A policy statement will be released towards the end of November; the discussion in the industry is that this timeline may be extended until the end of the year. It is expected that this will be the response from the consultation which will contain all the relevant details concerning the roll out of the scheme.

The RHI will be available to every market sector, private, social and commercial.

The view is that tariff levels will change from the consultation document to reflect the 20% savings expected by the new Government, no other details are available on this at present.
